Attorney Susan Farris Foy
The majority of Susan's practice is devoted to keeping her clients out of court through comprehensive estate planning. For many clients, this includes Revocable Living Trusts, Pourover Wills, Powers of Attorney and Advance Health Care Directives. Other documents that clients may need are Trust Transfer Deeds, Special Needs Trusts, Life Insurance Trusts, Separate Property Trusts, Community Property Agreements, Pre-nuptial and Post-nuptial Agreements.
While most estate planning is designed to keep parties out of court, sometimes disputes arise between Trustees and/or beneficiaries that need to be resolved with a lawsuit. This is when Susan’s early experience with litigation gives her and her clients an added advantage over attorneys who may be less familiar with the litigation process. Susan may be able to help you discover more Trust assets than you are aware of, to negotiate a stronger settlement for you and to navigate the court system with fewer delays.
For those of you who will enter the court system, Susan is happy to help you through the Probate process whether you are named as the executor or beneficiary in a loved one’s Will, whether you want to contest a Will that is being probated, or if your loved one died without a Will. Some transactions may only involve a Petition and hearing, or if someone who owns property in California dies in another state, an Ancillary Probate may be necessary. During this stressful time, it's comforting to have Susan help you navigate the court system.
